Projects

Learn how to create and manage projects in Mailcatcher.

Projects in Mailcatcher help you organize emails by application, environment, or team. Each project has its own SMTP credentials and settings.

Creating a Project

  1. Navigate to your dashboard
  2. Click the New Project button
  3. Enter a descriptive name
  4. Copy your SMTP credentials

Project Settings

SMTP Credentials

Each project has unique SMTP credentials:

  • Username: Automatically generated
  • Password: Shown once at creation (can be regenerated)
  • DSN: Connection string for frameworks that support it
You can regenerate your SMTP password at any time from the project settings. Remember to update your application configuration after regenerating.

Email Retention

Configure how long emails are stored:

Private Asset Domains

For security, Mailcatcher doesn't load external images by default. You can whitelist trusted domains in your project settings to automatically load images from those sources.

Managing Projects

Renaming a Project

  1. Go to Project Settings
  2. Update the project name
  3. Click Save

Deleting a Project

Deleting a project permanently removes all associated emails and settings. This action cannot be undone.

To delete a project:

  1. Go to Project Settings
  2. Scroll to the Danger Zone
  3. Click Delete Project
  4. Confirm the deletion
